Graham Knight:   Glebe Fane, Hillcrest Avenue, Dunton

Edward Hooper, Graham's great-grandfather, built the bungalow on the plot that the Hooper family of Upton Park occupied from about 1937 until the early 1950s.

The name "Glebe Fane" is an acronym taken from the names of the Hooper family: Gladys, Lilian, Edward, Bert, Emma, Fred, Ada, Nobby and Emma.

Photographs 8 - 10 by courtesy of Terry Harris.

Terry recalls watching the doodlebugs flying over towards London and sometimes hearing the engine cut out and seeing the explosion.
